Spooky Cemeteries

London is filled with historical buildings and areas going back centuries, but one of the lesser-known monuments to beloved pets from the Victorian era is nestled in a quiet corner of Hyde Park, just a short stroll from our accommodation Hyde Park London.

On special occasions such as Halloween, a guided tour to the UK’s only pet cemetery is available for visitors seeking a spooky activity with a difference, but you need to be quick to secure a space as this tour has proven to be incredibly popular with visitors from all over the world.

Not only will you be able to see the tiny headstones that mark the final resting places of much-loved pets from years gone by, but your tour guide will also reveal some chilling tales about the history and ghosts of Hyde Park too. This is a great Halloween tour for anyone with an interest in London’s hidden history.

The Woman in Black – The Fortune Theatre

No visit to London would be complete without a visit to one of the capital's iconic theatres, and one of the scariest and longest-running plays on offer is perfect for a Halloween night out with a difference.

Located in Covent Garden, the Fortune Theatre has been beautifully maintained over the years to retain its Victorian charm, and it is this setting that adds to the tense and chilling atmosphere of the play. It follows the central character Arthur as he travels to the terrifying Eel Marsh House to uncover the mystery surrounding its previous owner.

The Woman in Black is the only play running at the Fortune, so there are plenty of afternoon and evening performances to choose from, meaning that you can try out one of our restaurants near Hyde Park before heading off to take your seats.

Getting to Covent Garden is straightforward too and takes just 13 minutes to reach via Tube, so you can take your time over lunch or dinner before arriving at the theatre to be scared silly.

Hair-Raising Halloween at Hyde Park

If you don’t want to stray too far from our restaurants near Hyde Park or your hotel and are thinking of bringing the kids along for a visit to London, then the Royal Parks have a wide range of child-friendly Halloween activities on offer in the run-up to the 31st of October,

From a hair-raising nature trail filled with interesting facts of creepy crawlies, potion-making using garden herbs and even a spooky storyteller, this is a wonderful introduction to nature with a spooky twist that children of all ages will enjoy.

Witches hats and fancy dress is optional, but as the park staff are getting into the spirit of things with their outfits, it’s a good opportunity to get the kids dressed up for a little outdoor Halloween fun with a visit to one of London’s many fancy dress shops.

If you’d like a memento of your time at Hyde Park, you’ll also be given the opportunity to build your very own bat box for a small fee which you can take home with you afterwards.
