The Woman in Black – The Fortune Theatre

No visit to London would be complete without a visit to one of the capital's iconic theatres, and one of the scariest and longest-running plays on offer is perfect for a Halloween night out with a difference.

Located in Covent Garden, the Fortune Theatre has been beautifully maintained over the years to retain its Victorian charm, and it is this setting that adds to the tense and chilling atmosphere of the play. It follows the central character Arthur as he travels to the terrifying Eel Marsh House to uncover the mystery surrounding its previous owner.

Getting to Covent Garden is straightforward too and takes just 13 minutes to reach via Tube, so you can take your time over lunch or dinner before arriving at the theatre to be scared silly.

From a hair-raising nature trail filled with interesting facts of creepy crawlies, potion-making using garden herbs and even a spooky storyteller, this is a wonderful introduction to nature with a spooky twist that children of all ages will enjoy.

Witches hats and fancy dress is optional, but as the park staff are getting into the spirit of things with their outfits, it’s a good opportunity to get the kids dressed up for a little outdoor Halloween fun with a visit to one of London’s many fancy dress shops.
